This pottery flower vase is inspired by sketches of flowers and berries from where I live in Somerset. I hand paint the vase in black and then carve free hand through the colour into the clay beneath with flower, berry and leaf shapes using the sgrafitto technique. I then glaze in my tin white glaze.
Each one is hand thrown on Betty my pottery wheel in my log cabin studio in Somerset.
 
With its comforting vintage jar shape you’ll feel that you need to cup this beauty in your hands to feel the texture of the stoneware clay and the throwing rings from the pottery wheel.
Fill it with fresh or dried flowers and it will become a stunning centre piece in your home.
The vase is handmade so may vary slightly in colour and size its approximately 12cm high and 9cm at the base.
